Decai Sun

Chief Executive Officer

Decai Sun is the Chief Executive Officer of Luminus Devices, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sanan Opto Corporation (SH: 600703). Dr. Sun founded Lightera Corp in June 2012 in Silicon Valley and led the acquisition of Luminus Devices, a venture-funded LED company based in Boston, MA in August 2013. Prior to starting Lightera, Dr. Sun held R&D management positions at Philips Lumileds for 9 years where he was instrumental in introducing high efficiency thin film flip-chip GaN LED products to the market. In his earlier career, Dr. Sun also served as Senior R&D manager at Bandwidth9 and member of Technical Staff at Xerox PARC.

Dr. Sun holds over 50 patents in Semiconductor lasers, MEMS and LEDs. He holds a Ph.D in Engineering Physics from University of Virginia and BS in Optoelectronics from Tianjin University.

Kevin Shih

Chief Financial Officer

Kevin Shih has served as the Chief Financial Officer since December, 2013. Prior to joining Luminus, he was the VP of Finance at Emcore (Nasdaq: EMKR), where he reorganized the financial operation and audit compliance at Emcore’s Beijing WOFE and the solar JV in China from 2011 to 2013. Prior to joining Emcore, he was the Controller/Finance Director at Qualcomm Atheros (Nasdaq: QCOM), where he managed multinational finance operations and built process infrastructure to support the continuous sales growth from 2005 to 2011. He also held various senior finance positions with several hi-tech companies in Silicon Valley, including IC Media, Avanex, and ESS Technology.

Mr. Shih holds a Bachelor of Science from National Taiwan University and a Master of Business Administration from Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Shaohua Huang

Chief Technology Officer

Shaohua Huang has 15+ years of experience in developing and manufacturing thin-film LED chip technology, and he manages the teams responsible for super high power chip development and white die phosphor technology at Luminus Devices. Prior to joining Luminus, he spent eight years leading the organization responsible for the vertical chip line at Sanan Opto Corporation. Shaohua’s revolutionary chip architecture innovations have enabled Luminus products to ascend past numerous thresholds in both current and flux density performance thus enabling new lighting applications and unsurpassed value for customers. Shaohua holds over 30 patents in thin-film LED structures and high power LED packaging. Dr. Huang holds a Ph.D of Material Engineering from National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan.

Mark Pugh

Executive VP of Sales and Marketing

Before joining Luminus in February 2015, Mark co-founded Xicato in July 2007 and was instrumental in creating the “LED Module” category for the SSL industry. Over the last 7 years at Xicato, he developed the product and business strategy establishing Xicato’s dominant position in the critical lighting designer and specification market. Prior to Xicato, Mark was a founding member of the Lumileds joint venture (JV) between Hewlett Packard and Philips. Mark was based in the Netherlands and was responsible for manufacturing and marketing. He successfully established and cultivated numerous global partnerships, channels and developed new markets. Mark later became the Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Marketing as the JV expanded in 1999 starting new businesses for Lumileds such as LED backlighting for televisions and displays.

Tom Jory

VP of Illumination Marketing

Tom Jory has 25+ years of experience in the LED industry, and he manages the team responsible for Luminus’general illumination business, including chip-on-board (COB) arrays, midpower LEDs, and Dynamic COBs. His prior roles have included: Vice President of Marketing at Swarco Traffic Americas, several key roles at Philips Lumileds Lighting, VP of Marketing and Sales at BridgeLux, and VP of LITE-ON’s Optoelectronics Division in the US. In these roles, Mr. Jory has built a consistent track record of winning major supply contracts with large customers in the indoor and outdoor lighting industry, such as Philips, as well as developing high volume, sole source projects with Apple, Motorola, and many others. He received his BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UC Santa Barbara his MBA from Santa Clara University.

Stephane Bellosguardo

VP of Specialty Lighting Marketing

Stephane is in charge of expanding and diversifying Luminus business in Specialty Lighting markets including medical, industrial, displays and horticulture. He joined Luminus in 2006 as a Director of Product Marketing to develop the company’s projection display business. Prior to joining Luminus, Stephane was a product line manager at Applied Micro Circuits Corp (now MACOM) where he launched a series of highly-integrated optical networking ICs. He held earlier positions in technical marketing in the Specialty Memories (United Kingdom) and Power Products Divisions (France) of NXP / Freescale.

Stephane holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering from IMT Atlantique, France.

Ting Li

VP of Technology

Ting Li is the VP of Technology of Luminus Devices. He has been an LED industry veteran for almost twenty years and his career has focused on LED chip development and phosphor converter technology development. Prior to joining Luminus, Dr. Li held various R&D and management positions at Cree, Illumitex, and Bridgelux.

Dr. Li holds over 10 patents in LEDs and has over 40 technical publications. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and M.S. in Materials Science from Cornell University.

Rex Chen

Director of Operations

Rex is the Director of Operations and is leading Supply Chain, Supplier Management, Contract Manufacturer Management, Information Technology and Production Engineering at Luminus. Prior to joining Luminus, Rex was the Director of Automotive Development at Lextar Electronic Corporation in Taiwan and held various management positions at Advanced Optoelectronic Technology Inc., Supernova Optoelectronic Corp. and Advanced Epitaxy Technology. With strong LED integration background, he is very familiar with the epitaxy, chip process and many other important technical steps during the entire LED manufacturing process. Rex has over 20 years of strong management experience in product development and operations management. Rex received his MS degree in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.

Joe Hornung

VP of Product Development

Joe Hornung has over 30 years of experience in semiconductor and electronics industries and manages the team responsible for developing products for both the general illumination and specialty lighting markets. Prior to joining Luminus he was the Senior Vice President of Product Development at Soraa, Inc. Previous roles include several leadership positions at Cree/Wolfspeed in both the LED component and RF/Power groups, VP of Engineering and Manufacturing at BrightView Technologies, and Director of Global Supply Chain at Rambus Lighting. Throughout his career, Mr. Hornung has a consistent record of delivering innovative products to the market and he holds several patents on device packaging. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University.
